Jun 13, 2012 (newstodate): Kyrgyzstan has found an international investor to assist in financing of the reconstruction of Issyk Kul Airport
The Italian Bank Etruria will step in as part of a deal with Kyrgyzstan where it will also take part in gold mining in the country - which is probably what has driven the promise to invest in airport business.
The reconstruction of Issyk Kul Airport, a former Soviet air force base, will include an extension of the the currently 1,800m runway, construction of taxiways and expansion of the apron areas to allow for handling of aircraft up to the size of Boeing 737, Airbus A320.
The project has been long underway but stalled due to lack of financial means.
