Jun 11, 2012 (newstodate): The Dubai-based LCC Flydubai has appointed Network Airline Services as its exclusive cargo GSSA in Europe.
The carrier will thus also gain representation in the Nordic market through Network Airline Services Nordic, with offices at Malmo, Sweden, managing sales in the Danish and Swedish markets.
-We are expecting to launch services on behalf of flydubai in the Nordic region by the end of June or the beginning of July as flydubai's booking system is implemented with us. The slack summer period will thus provide us with time to gain experience before the start of the busy autumn season, says Gert Mortensen, Network Airline Services Nordic country manager.
-Though flydubai is off-line in the Nordic region, we benefit from its support by Emirates that will lift flydubai-shipments between Copenhagen and Dubai for fast transfer onto flydubai's fast-growing network including unique destinations in Russia, CIS, Eastern Europe and for instance Khartoum operated twice daily, says Mr Mortensen.
As flydubai operates a pure Boeing 737-800 fleet, shipments are limited in weight to 100 kilo.
One of the first low-cost operators in the world to focus on air cargo, the carrier launched flydubai Cargo from January 1, 2012, accepting shipments including perishable items, textiles, electronics, couriered items, mail, pharmaceuticals and general cargo between any points in the network as well as beyond in cooperation with other airlines.
In line with IATA's e-freight initiative, all shipments will be transported with electronic documents rather than paper air waybills.
