Jun 19, 2012 (newstodate): Much of the magic powder has dripped off the wings of Flybe Nordic since its heralded launch of Nordic and Baltic services in 2011.
The latest retreats from the route network are marked by the decision to withdraw services between Helsinki and Gdansk, opened on March 27, 2011, and between Helsinki and Trondheim, in Norway, opened on October 30, 2011.
Both routes will be closed down from the end of June 2012.
Before that Flybe Nordic cut most of the routes from Tallinn, Estonia, originally including flights to Vaasa, Oulu, Turku and Tampere in Finland, leaving only the route between Tallinn and Stockholm Bromma Airport, in Sweden.
Flybe Nordic also suspended flights on several other routes during the latter part of the winter period.
The carrier has so far also kept a low profile in the Scandinavian markets after the demise of Cimber Sterling and Skyways that left a void causing other carriers to rush in for a share of the market.
Still, Flybe Nordic is expected to announce new routes from this autumn if aircraft capacity is sufficient.
