Jun 04, 2012 (newstodate): Starting from October 2012, Flybe will take over the operation of Finnair's European route network. But Finnair Cargo does not expect this to affect its European cargo business.
-The expanded and deeper share of Finnair European flights operated by Flybe Nordic will not change anything for Finnair Cargo, as the new Flybe Nordic routes will be the same as Finnair used to operate with the 12 Embraer 190 that are to be transferred to Flybe, says Juha Jarvinen, Finnair Cargo and Finnair Cargo Terminal Operations Managing Director since May 14, 2012.
-The majority of Finnair Cargo freight between Helsinki and Europe//Scandinavia is transferred by road feeder trucks within extensive network with, in addition to our weekly MD11F freighter operation between Helsinki and Frankfurt.
-As for Finnair Cargo's FIRST product, we use the Airbus A320 family and E190 capacity for transportation.
-As our capacity is steadily increasing to Asia, with the latest addition of Chongqing in Western China, we will further develop the feeder services to/from Europe with our partners says Mr Jarvinen.
In May 2012 Finnair Cargo awarded a three-year contract to the Danish trucking company HCS A/S Transport & Spedition.
Under the contract, HCS takes over Finnair Cargo's entire air cargo trucking activities in and between all four Nordic markets as well as key North European markets including Germany, Holland, and Belgium.
