Jun 13, 2012 (newstodate): The Faroe Islands' Vagar Airport is seeing a sound development in airfreight volumes in 2012.
With imports from Denmark strongly dominating the traffic, the airport has seen air cargo volumes in January-May 2012 up by 198.3 percent, y-o-y, to 163.6 tonnes, while airmail dipped 16.4 percent to 91.8 tonnes.
Behind the growth in 2012 is the completion of the extended runway that allow the national carrier, Atlantic Airways to operate its new Airbus A319 aircraft since March 28, 2012.
