Jun 08, 2012 (newstodate): After much wrangling, it is now a fact that Turkish Airlines is withdrawing from ownership in Bosnia's B&H Airlines.
In December 2008, Turkish Airlines won the tender for privatization of the Bosnian carrier, taking 49 percent of the stake and injecting fresh capital into the ailing carrier.
The cooperation did not work, however, and Turkish Airlines recently withdraw its management personnel at the airline after having earlier taken the Airbus A319 operating for B&H Airlines back.
In the fleet now are only two ATR-42 aircraft, one of which is grounded for lack of spares, and the carrier is keeping a minimalistic route network with reduced flights to Istanbul, Zurich and Copenhagen.
It is now up to the Bosnian state to keep the airline flying until a new solution can be found, including a new investor.
