Jun 26, 2012 (newstodate): Banja Luka International Airport, in Bosnia-Herzegovina's Republika Srpska, is in imminent danger of losing its international operating license.
Following an audit, the airport was ordered to meet a number of requirements including lengthening of its taxiways, installation of new security equipment and other issues.
The deadline for meeting these requirements was met on June 20, 2012 - but the airport was granted a further two months to face up to the demands, or risk losing its license.
The airport, however, does not have the financial means to perform the projects as air traffic is almost at a zero - only H&H Airlines currently operate flights between Banja Luka and Zurich, in Switzerland.
In 2011 the airport with a 2,500m runway generated a total of 8,367 passengers.
