Jun 19, 2012 (newstodate): The Latvian carrier airBaltic saw the volume of flights down by 14 percent, y-o-y, during January-May 2012, to 19,392.
In the same period the number of passengers dropped nine percent, y-o-y, to 1,112,140.
The company, however, saw its load factor up by one percentage-point, thanks the replacement by the Bombardier Q400 aircraft instead of the Fokker 50.
The effect was also seen in statistics for May 2012, where the volume of flights and the number of passengers both dropped by 17 percent - while the load factor was down by four percentage-points as more seats were left empty in the larger aircraft.
