May 11, 2012 (newstodate): Russia's first post-Soviet commercial airliner with a promising future, the Sukhoi Superjet 100 program has been severely hit by the tragic disaster in Indonesia where a demonstration flight ended in a crash killing all on board.
The Asian presentation tour from May 3, 2012, would take the aircraft to Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Indonesia, Vietnam, Laos, and Myanmar before ending up on May 14 in Hanoi, Vietnam.
Carriers in some of these countries have already placed orders for the Superjet 100, such as Lao Central Airlines and Indonesia's Kartika Airlines.
The Superjet 100 is already operated by Armavia and Aeroflot.
