May 14, 2012 (newstodate): From winter 2012/13, Finnair plans to cut frequency to Singapore.
The carrier is currently offering daily flights code-shared with Qantas on the route between Helsinki and Singapore, but from December 17, 2012 till March 15, 2012, the carrier will reduce the offering to four weekly rotations.
Finnair launched direct daily flights on the route from May 30, 2011, after having served the destination by extension of its route between Helsinki and Bangkok four times weekly.
In 2011, Finnair became the only carrier to offer direct daily flights between Northern Europe and Singapore, a route also served by Singapore Airlines with three weekly rotations between Singapore and Copenhagen in a code-share with SAS.
In the Nordic context, SAS and Singapore Airlines have just announced the formal start of a JV aiming at providing a basis for raising frequency on the route, adding flights on a new route between Singapore and Stockholm and, as warranted by the market, increasing with more destinations in Scandinavia, including presumably Oslo.
