May 3, 2012 (newstodate): The Russian carrier Atran Cargo Airlines is building up its freighter fleet as part of the strategy to develop a new airfreight network in Russia.
In October 2011, Russia's Volga-Dnepr Group acquired Atran to provide the backbone for new flight operations with Atran's four AN-12 freighter aircraft, and plans are to add also Boeing 737-300 freighter aircraft to the fleet.
The first of these Boeing 737-300F aircraft is now to join the fleet of Atran later this summer.
Volga-Dnepr will provide flights from Moscow Domodedovo Airport to Leipzig and Luxembourg for onward distribution of express shipments carried on Volga-Dnepr's own network.
