May 18, 2012 (newstodate): A major project is on the table at Tajikistan's state-owned Khujand Airport serving the country's second-largest city.
The airport needs urgent rehabilitation of its 3,185m runway, as well as installation of high intensity lights and new radio and ground control safety equipment.
The project will be supported by EBRD that will also support development of an Airport Master Plan with the help of consultants expected to be funded from the Bank's technical co-operation funds.
Also comprised by EBRD's support is formulating a commercialization plan that is expected to support privatisation of some non-aeronautical activities.
