May 16, 2012 (newstodate): Preparing for the entry of the Boeing 787 aircraft later this year, the Polish carrier LOT has started talks with a provider of aircraft maintenance.
LOT is thus negotiating with the UK-based company Monarch Aircraft Engineering Limited aiming at contracting the company to provide fuselage maintenance services for its eight Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft, the first of which is to be delivered in November 2012.
If negotiations are concluded successfully, Monarch will set up a maintenance base at Warsaw to support LOT's Dreamliner operations, with LOT AMS as its subcontractor.
After delivery of the first Boeing 878 aircraft in November 2012, two more will follow in January 2013, with the next aircraft to follow with one per year thereafter.
LOT will become the first European carrier to operate the Boeing 787, and the eight globally.
