May 30, 2012 (newstodate): Plans are under way for development of Serbia's Novi Sad Airport, only 70 km from the country's Belgrade Airport.
With one 1,430m runway, Novi Sad Airport is currently only serving general aviation, but plans are to develop the airport to attract low-cost operators, business flights and cargo operations.
A new ATC tower is under construction, and plans for a new passenger terminal are being detailed.
Based on a public-private partnership, construction works will start in 2014 pending agreements with investors.
