May 16, 2012 (newstodate): Close to deadline for operations of the four Cimber Air aircraft serving SAS since Cimber Sterling's bankruptcy, a new company has been established to continue the operation.
Behind the new airline, Cimber A/S are Jorgen Nielsen, Jacob Krogsgaard and Alex Dyrgaard who were also behind the now defunct carrier Cimber Sterling.
Comber A/S is now to acquire parts of assets of the bankrupt Cimber Sterling, first of all the four Bombardier CRJ200 aircraft operating on European routes under a contract with SAS.
The new carrier's four CRJ200 aircraft will have SAS pilots in the cockpit and Cimber A/S cabin crew formerly with Cimber Sterling.
Serving as Cimber A/S CEO is Jacob Krogsgaard.
The UK-Finnish carrier flyBe Nordic and the Ukrainian-Swedish airline Flybe were earlier in negotiations over the CRJ900 operations, but pulled out.
Instead, the race for filling the void left will most probably intensify, with flyBe Nordic expected soon to announce a significant move into the Danish aviation business.
