May 23, 2012 (newstodate): Iraqi Airways is to be re-launched as a major Middle East carrier with a significant increase of its aircraft fleet.
Already from later in 2012 the carrier will take delivery of 30 Boeing 737-800 aircraft boosting the existing fleet of only 15 aircraft of various types.
In addition to the 30 Boeing 373 aircraft, orders have also been placed for a further 14 aircraft including 10 Boeing 787 Dreamliner, and the carrier also holds options for a further 25 aircraft including five more Dreamliner aircraft, 10 Bombardier CRJ-900ER and 10 Boeing 737-800 aircraft.
