May 21, 2012 (newstodate): Cargo volumes are rising steadily through the first four months of this year at Iceland's Keflavik Airport.
During January-April 2012 the airport handled a total of 12,635 tonnes of cargo and mail, an increase by 8.8 percent, y-o-y.
In April 2012, volumes were 3,068 tonnes, up 15.7 percent, y-o-y, but also the preceding months were marked by positive growth.
In 2011 a total of 36,672 tonnes of cargo and mail was handled at Keflavik Airport, only 3.38 percent up on the preceding year and a far cry from the years before the crash in 2008 when volumes were still above 50,000 tonnes annually.
