May 22, 2012 (newstodate): Hopes are running high in Estonia for a first-ever direct scheduled flight connection to Turkey.
In connection with the Routes 2012 airline conference at Tallinn, in Estonia, Turkish Airlines has confirmed plans for the opening of flights on a new route between Tallinn and Istanbul.
No dates for start of services, not information on frequency is yet available.
Speaking in late May 2012 at the opening of the Estonia-Turkey Intercultural Trade and Education Association, Estonia's Foreign Minister said that hopes are that directly flights from Tallinn to Istanbul will become a reality before the end of this year.
Today, the shortest connection from Tallinn to Istanbul is provided by the Latvian carrier airBaltic via Riga.
