May 31, 2012 (newstodate): Finnair wants to divest itself of non-core business, one of which is catering operations. But plans for a sale to Lufthansa Group's LSG Sky Chefs have now been abandoned.
The two parties signed a MoU in on March 12, 2012, but Lufthansa Group has vetoed the deal due to an general investment freeze at Lufthansa.
Finnair will now seek to raise productivity and efficiency of its catering unit, while seeking other potential partners to take over the business.
Plans to sell off the catering business were decided already in 2009.
