May 15, 2012 (newstodate): A direct air link between Tallinn in Estonian and Istanbul has long been high on the Estonian wishing list. Now the issue is emerging at high levels again.
Speaking at the opening of the Estonia-Turkey Intercultural Trade and Education Association, Estonia's Foreign Minister said that hopes are that directly flights from Tallinn to Istanbul will become a reality within the year.
This hope gained further momentum a few days later as the Turkish Foreign Minister confirmed that Turkish Airlines has decided to set up flights between Tallinn and Istanbul before the end of the year.
So far, no official confirmation by Turkish Airlines is available.
Some caution might be needed, however, as the issue has been on the agenda for years, and imminent progress announced several times since 2009.
