May 10, 2012 (newstodate): Estonian Air is to take in two new Embraer E-190 aircraft during the first quarter of 2013.
The carrier has signed a contract with GE Capital Aviation Services for lease of the two aircraft to expand the fleet of Embraer aircraft that will provide the backbone of its operations in the years ahead.
Estonian Air is estimating a requirement for up to 12 Embraer aircraft that will enable the company to increase flight frequencies, open new destinations and to operate at least double daily services to main destinations in Europe.
In the fleet now are already four Embraer 170 aircraft delivered to Estonia in February 2012 under a lease agreement with Finnair.
The company is currently negotiating with the manufacturer and lessors on the delivery schedules and conditions for up to six additional aircraft.
These aircraft will be a mix of E-175 and E-190 models, and are scheduled to enter the fleet during 2013-2015.
Estonian Air has contracted Skytech-AIC with the re-marketing of its three Bombardier CRJ900 aircraft built in 2011 and due to leave the airline's fleet before the end of this year.
