May 7, 2012 (newstodate): The demise of the Danish carrier Cimber Sterling may boost fleet expansion plans by the charter and ACMI provider Jet Time.
Jet Time was to take in Cimber Sterling's fleet of four leased Boeing 737-700 aircraft from this summer schedule and fly them on Cimber Sterling's summer program by taking over also their crews and operate the fleet on a wet-lease contract with Cimber Sterling, but eventually the plan was abandoned.
Instead, Jet Time and Cimber Sterling were to renegotiate the plan by the end of this summer schedules.
Now all cards are again on the table.
-We are first of all focusing our efforts on helping our customer to obtain the extra capacity in the form of aircraft and crews needed for their operations after the grounding of Cimber Sterling, says Klaus Ren, Jet Time CEO.
-After that we must analyze if the new situation calls for a more permanent expansion of our aircraft fleet - and I will absolutely not rule out this possibility, says Mr Ren.
Jet Time already operates a fleet of five Boeing 737-300 in passenger version, two Boeing 737-300QC, and three Boeing 737-700 aircraft.
