May 30, 2012 (newstodate): The consolidation in Russia's civil aviation is accelerating further in 2012.
During the first four months of 2012, the country's five largest carriers jointly accounted for 65.7 percent of all passengers transported by Russian airlines.
In the same period in 2011, this proportion was 59.2 percent.
During January-April 2012, the five carriers together lifted a total of 12.2 mio passengers - up 33 percent, y-o-y, while the total market grew by "only" 19.8 percent, y-o-y, during the same period.
Of the five top-5 airlines, UTAir grew the fastest, up 63.5 percent, y-o-y, while Transaero saw volumes up by 36.1 percent.
Traditionally leading the Russian civil aviation market, Aeroflot grew its passengers volumes through the first four months by "only" 29.3 percent, y-o-y.
