May 10, 2012 (newstodate): Azerbaijan Airlines is upbeat about sustained increases in passenger and cargo volumes in 2012.
In 2011 the carrier transported a total of 1.4 mio passengers, an increase by 37 percent, y-o-y, and cargo volumes were up 12.5 percent to 4,944 tonnes in 2011.
The carrier plans to take delivery of another Boeing 767-300ER aircraft in May 2012 and pins its hope on taking delivery of two Boeing 878 aircraft in 2014 when it hopes also to open more flights to the USA and destinations in Southeast Asia.
The carrier that currently operates a fleet comprising 24 aircraft has also placed orders for two Boeing 767-300F to be delivered later in 2012.
