May 3, 2012 (newstodate): Cargo volumes jumped sky-high at Latvia's Riga Airport in April 2012.
After increasing no less than 657,2 percent, y-o-y, total volumes reached unprecedented levels at 7,519 tonnes, including 7,036 tonnes of cargo and 483 tonnes of mail.
That was an increase by 1,075 and 22.6 percent, respectively.
After January-April 2012, total cargo volumes through Riga Airport have thus increased by 175 percent, y-o-y, to 10,559 tonnes.
Behind the unusual growth is the start in March 2012 of three daily Boeing 747 freighter flights from Riga Airport with supplies for the Afghan ISAF forces.
