Apr 11, 2012 (newstodate): Virgin Atlantic Cargo has appointed the Dutch-owned SkyXS as its Cargo GSA in Poland.
Virgin Atlantic Cargo is off-line in Poland, but has launched daily trucking services to London to connect with its widebody flights to the USA, Africa, the Middle East, Asia and Australia.
With this service, and by the efforts of the carrier's first-ever GSA in Poland, forwarders will now gain easy access to Virgin Atlantic Cargos network covering 350 destinations worldwide.
-Many of the manufacturers in Poland work with Virgin Atlantic Cargo in other regions so we have been closely monitoring the Poland market for some time since we extended our GSA coverage to Hungary and Czech Republic in 2010, says Nick Jones, Virgin Atlantic Cargo Regional VP Sales, EMEA.
-It has shown itself to be a growing economy over the past difficult years and with a number of manufacturing industries relocating to Poland there is a significant market for airfreight, says Mr Jones.
Managed by Ger Daniels, the SkyXS Group boosted its presence with the purchase of the Central and Eastern European branches of the Danish group WECO in 2006, renaming these under the ASN brand.
Today, SkyXS and ASN operate in 13 countries.
