Apr 10, 2012 (newstodate): Air cargo volumes continue to soar at Estonia's Tallinn Airport.
For the third successive month, the airport saw volumes up by 62.5 percent, y-o-y, reaching a total of 1,786 tonnes.
Airfreight imports drive the process, with 1,470 tonnes in March 2012, an increase by 66.2 percent, while exports at 264 tonnes also increased by 72.4 percent, y-o-y.
The airport thus ended Q1 2012 with a total of 4,902 tonnes, an increase by 70.9 percent, y-o-y.
Behind the strong development is the return since late 2011 of the ex-China operations via Istanbul carrying goods destined for the Russian market and transferred by trucks from Tallinn Airport.
