Apr 16, 2012 (newstodate): The long-awaited decision on the future jet aircraft fleet at the Latvian carrier airBaltic is expected soon.
The airline sees two options: outright acquisition or lease of jet aircraft.
If the decision is to buy the aircraft, the choice will be used Airbus A319 or Boeing 737-700.
If the carrier does not decide to buy jet aircraft in 2012, it will instead lease the aircraft as soon as possible, and it will then go for lease of new aircraft.
In either case, the decision will be announced during May-July 2012.
The aim is to reduce the complexity of the fleet from currently five types to only two - Bombardier Q400 and either Airbus A319 or Boeing 737-700 aircraft.
