Apr 30, 2012 (newstodate): Icelandair Cargo has reduced its Boeing 757-200F freighter fleet in 2012.
The carrier has returned one of five Boeing 757-200F aircraft to the lessor, now operating one to two freighters in the Icelandic market and placing two to three freighters on the ACMI market.
Icelandair Cargo thus operates two weekly freighter rotations between Keflavik and New York JFK Airport, eight weekly rotations between Keflavik and Liege, and five weekly rotations between Keflavik and East Midlands.
-While scaling down the freighter fleet by one aircraft, we do have a significant increase in belly capacity as Icelandair passenger operations have been growing dramatically. We try to support that growth as much as we can, says Mikael Tal Gretarsson, Icelandair Cargo Director Exports.
In addition to its scheduled freighter services, Icelandair Cargo also operates 10-12 Boeing 757-200F flights per year to Denmark's Billund Airport and Sweden's Norrkoping Airport, carrying export loads of Icelandic horses.
