Apr 16, 2012 (newstodate): Finnair is on the look-out for a partner to feed European traffic into the hub at Helsinki Vantaa Airport.
The airline is currently speaking to various airlines, sources say, and while no decision has been made yet Air Berlin seems to be just one option.
Last year, Finnair purchased Finnish Commuter Airlines in a joint venture with Flybe owning 60 percent and Finnair 40 percent of the joint company, Flybe Nordic.
Flybe Nordic aims at becoming the leading regional airline for the Nordic and Baltic countries in the coming years, but Finnair also needs a boost in the European traffic that has not been operating profitably.
Finnair's target remains the Asian traffic where the carrier is continuously building up its services with more frequencies on existing routes, and addition of new destinations like Chongqing, in China, to be launched from May 9, 2012.
