Apr 10, 2012 (newstodate): Air cargo growth continues in a slow mood for Finnair, according to its latest figures.
In March 2012, Finnair Cargo generated a total of 13,298 tonnes - a modest increase by 3.4 percent, y-o-y.
10,480 tonnes were carried on the airline's passenger flights, an increase by 3.9 percent, while volumes on freighter operations were up only 2.6 percent, y-o-y, to 2,747 tonnes, also reflecting the suspension of the Shanghai freighter operations since March 1, 2012.
Finnair Cargo did see signs of a re-bounce in its Asian cargo traffic where volumes were up 9.8 percent on the passenger flights, to 7,666 tonnes, while all other segments reported negative growth, including North America where volumes dropped 15.2 percent, y-o-y, to 696 tonnes.
After this year's Q1, Finnair Cargo's total volumes were 37,982 tonnes, an increase by 10 percent, y-o-y, still driven by a 6.4 percent increase in Asian volumes that were 20,095 tonnes.
