Apr 11, 2012 (newstodate): 2012 is poised to become the year of records in passenger volumes at Estonian Air.
In March 2012 the carrier reached an all-time high rate of 30.4 percent growth, y-o-y, in passengers on scheduled flights, to 56,661.
This brought the total passenger flow in Q1 2012 to 138,623 passengers, up 21.1 percent y-o-y.
In March 2012, Estonian Air operated 1,292 flights, up 31.7 percent on last year, and in Q1 2012 the carrier operated 3,184 flights - 26.3 percent more than in 2011.
Estonian Air operates flights from Tallinn Airport to 24 destinations in CIS, Scandinavia and Europe.
Latest new destinations include Helsinki, Riga, Jyv�skyl�, Hannover, Vienna, Venice, Joensuu, Kajaani and Tbilisi.
Estonian Air is now operating four Embraer E-170 aircraft on a one-year lease contract with Finnair, while the carrier has placed orders for a further eight Embraer aircraft with the factory.
In addition and subject to the approval of Estonian Air's Supervisory Council, Estonian Air has signed a contract with Embraer for the outright acquisition of three E-175 and one E-190 aircraft, with deliveries to start from 2nd quarter of 2014.
Estonian Air will also take eight additional aircraft, four E-170 and four E-190, under a combination of lease agreements with third parties and leasing companies.
