Apr 25, 2012 (newstodate): Plans are underway for construction of a green-field airport and a multi-modal complex near St Petersburg, in Russia.
The projected airport will be dedicated to air cargo traffic, connecting by rail and road to the near-by cargo harbor of St Petersburg and cooperating a seaport in Russia's Far East.
Plans are for the airport to be constructed at Vistino, a precinct of St Petersburg, and a master-plan for the airport is currently being worked out.
The technical design work is also to start this summer, and once the project is finally confirmed the entire construction process will require some five years of work.
