Apr 24, 2012 (newstodate): The first to introduce the Sukhoi Superjet 100 aircraft in commercial service, Armavia has now rounded its first year of operations with the new aircraft.
Entering service with Armavia between Yerevan and Moscow from April 21, 2011, the Superjet 100 has accumulated more than 1,870 flight hours in more than 760 revenue flights during the first 12 months.
The aircraft has carried over 48,000 passengers and covered more than 1.4 million kilometers of distance on the flights.
The highest daily utilization reached 16.5 flight hours while the longest distance exceeded 4,000 kilometers on route Yerevan Madrid.
The best results in terms of number of flights per month and monthly utilization stood at 88 flights and 224 hours in November 2011 and 91 flights and 213 hours in February 2012.
Armavia did, however, experience temporary problems with the engines of the Superjet and the aircraft was grounded for a period from July 23, 2011 after having performed 234 flights on routes from Yerevan to destinations including Moscow, Rome and other cities.
The Superjet 100 rounded its first 1,000 flight hours on October 9, 2011, and the aircraft had then performed flights with 21,000 passengers to 27 airports over a total distance of 650,000 km.
The delivery of the second Superjet 100 aircraft to Armavia has now been set for June 2012.
