Apr 11, 2012 (newstodate): The Finnish airline Turku Air will take a bite of the market for air travel between Finland and Estonia.
Effective from April 16, 2012, the carrier based at Turku, in Finland, will launch services on a new route connecting Turku and Tallinn, Estonia, using Piper PA-31-350 Chieftain aircraft on the route that will be served with two rotations on weekdays.
Earlier, the Latvian carrier airBaltic started serving the route from October 1, 2009, with Fokker 50 aircraft but pulled out again from the start of the winter schedule 2010-11.
From November 2011, Flybe Nordic launched flights on a spree of routes between Finland and Estonia, including flights between Tallinn and Turku, but these were scrapped again already by the start of February 2012.
