Apr 24, 2012 (newstodate): The eventual choice of new aircraft for the Latvian carrier airBaltic will be made by the carrier's management - but the Latvian state will keep its eyes on the cards.
The Latvian Minister of Communications has just visited Boeing that will submit its offer for delivery of Boeing 737-700 aircraft by the end of this month.
The Minister is also meeting with an executive team from Airbus that will place a competing offer for delivery of its Airbus A319 alternative.
It remains open if airBaltic will eventually opt for acquisition or lease of jet aircraft badly needed for replacing its existing fleet of aging Boeing 737 Classic aircraft.
