Mar 05, 2012 (newstodate): Turkmenistan Airlines is phasing out its fleet of Boeing 717 aircraft.
The carrier is currently withdrawing all seven Boeing 717 aircraft from commercial service, replacing them with Boeing 737 aircraft of various types.
After placing the first order for two Boeing 717-200 aircraft in 2003, the Ashgabat-based carrier took delivery of its first Boeing 717-200 aircraft in 2004, gradually building up the fleet to eight, with the latest delivery in 2005.
Turkmenistan was the first post-Soviet state to purchase Boeing aircraft, and the fleet now comprises four Boeing-757, nine Boeing 737, two Boeing 767-300 and one Boeing 777-200 aircraft.
On the order book are two Boeing 737-800 and two Boeing 777 aircraft.
