Mar 23, 2012 (newstodate): Exercising an option with GECAS, SAS has decided to take in nine, instead of five Boeing 737-800 aircraft.
The original deal with GECAS comprised the lease of five new Boeing 737-800 as well as 12 used Boeing 737-700 aircraft.
All Boeing 737NG aircraft will be based at Oslo Gardermoen and Stockholm Arlanda with deliveries during 2012-14.
Already based at these stations are 68 Boeing 737NG aircraft as well as 10 Boeing 737 Classics and nine MD-80 aircraft, all due for replacement.
All SAS' MD-80 aircraft will have left the company during 2013, while the Boeing 737 Classic aircraft will have been phased out by the end of 2014.
