Mar 22, 2012 (newstodate): Moscow Sheremetyevo Airport will be spearheading the introduction and implementation of IATA's e-freight in the Russian airfreight market.
The first e-freight test operations will be launched in May 2012 comprising a select number of transit and transfer shipments operated at the airport testing the carrier, airport handling and customs' ability to the handling of paper-less airfreight shipments.
The choice of Moscow Sheremetyevo Airport is important to the success of e-freight in Russia as the airport has more than 50 percent of all international air cargo movements and is also the hub of Aeroflot as well as AirBridgeCargo.
