Mar 12, 2012 (newstodate): The Scandinavian carrier SAS is seeing potentials for more traffic between Scandinavia and Russia.
The carrier is currently operating flights to Moscow and St Petersburg, and from March 25, SAS will launch flights between Copenhagen and Kaliningrad.
Returning to Kaliningrad after a lapse of some 10 years, SAS will offer four weekly rotations on the route to be served with CRJ200 or CRJ900 aircraft, bringing the total number of flights between Russia and Scandinavia to 35 per week.
SAS has seen passenger volumes between Russia and Scandinavia up by 25 percent in 2011, and plans for new destinations to be opened include flights to Yekaterinburg, and the carrier may also offer a series of charter flights to Sochi during the coming sports events in 2014.
