Mar 27, 2012 (newstodate): Hit by the prolonged series of changes in the Airbus A350 program like all other customers, Finnair now plans to take delivery of its first A350-900 aircraft in 2015.
So far the latest plans were to phase in the new aircraft from 2014, but the original schedule called for the A350 to enter service with Finnair from 2011 already.
Finnair also early decided to take aircraft with serial number 30 and upwards only, to avoid suffering from the expected teething troubles with the new aircraft.
In total, Finnair has placed firm orders for 11 Airbus A350-900 aircraft, exercising all options in the initial contract from 2005.
