Mar 07, 2012 (newstodate): In an effort to escape from the shadows of its year-long struggle with political interference and financial distress, the Latvian carrier airBaltic has announced a new strategy - airBaltic ReShape.
Not surprisingly, the focal point of the strategy is to return the airline to profitability and secure a sustainable future development at North Hub Riga, linking the Baltic region with destinations in Europe, Middle East and Russia/CIS.
The airBaltic ReShape strategy aims at reshaping the business, achieving improvements of LVL 330 million in the next five years, and returning to profitability in 2014.
Headlines of the new business plan include fleet modernisation, cost optimisation, operational efficiency, revenue enhancement and network improvements.
Beyond this, little detail is currently provided.
The long-overdue issue of aircraft fleet remains unsolved beyond the notion that the future will belong to aircraft types including Bombardier Q400 and either Boeing 737NG of Airbus A320 Family aircraft.
