Mar 15, 2012 (newstodate): India is an attractive market for Finland's exporters - but progress is still slow in coming.
Since September 16, 2011, Finnair Cargo/Nordic Global Airlines has been operating a weekly direct freighter flight between Helsinki and Mumbai, and is has been welcomed in the market.
-We are using this freighter service almost every week and find the service up to standard and working very well, says Timo Juntunen, Agility Finland Export Manager.
-However, the general depression in the global economy is impacting the Indian market as well, so we are eagerly waiting for trends to move upwards, which could of course happen anytime now. The Indian market is important to Finnish exporters, and given the scope of the market potentials are abundant.
-So far we have had shipments destined for Mumbai only, so we have not yet any experience with onward transfer cargo services via this destination, says Mr Juntunen.
