Mar 02, 2012 (newstodate): The Finnish government is presenting a new air services agreement with Russia for approval by the parliament.
The proposed agreement will abolish the current restriction that allows for only one designated carrier from each side to operate flights on routes between destinations in the two countries and thus open up for more and freer competition in Russian-Finnish air services.
If approved by both governments, the new air services agreement would also lift the obligation of Finnish carriers, notably Finnair, to pay for air navigation services on routes over Siberia.
