Mar 30, 2012 (newstodate): An Aviation Committee, established under the Danish ministry of transportation in June 2011 and headed by former Danish minster and EU commissary Henning Christophersen, has now submitted its report.
Concerning Denmark's airfreight industry, the report finds the geographical distribution of Danish export and import air cargo to be 40 percent Asia, Europe 40 percent, North America 20 percent, and Middle East/Africa one percent.
According to the report, the total volume of airfreight destined for or exported from Denmark is around 160,000 tonnes, comprising 100,000 tonnes via Copenhagen Airport and 60,000 tonnes via Billund Airport.
In Copenhagen Airport exports account for 55 percent and imports for 45 percent, while 55 percent of the airfreight at Billund Airport is import and 45 percent export.
The bulk of the airfreight at Copenhagen Airport is, however, transit cargo that constituted around 70 percent of the total of 332,877 tonnes of cargo in 2011.
