Mar 09, 2012 (newstodate): The Danish forwarder and logistics provider DSV reaped good results in 2011 with DSV Air Chartering - Cargo & Passenger.
In 2011, the unit managed 628 charter operations, lifting a total of 23,980 tonnes of cargo, in addition to a yet-unannounced volume of airfreight on IATA carriers.
-These commercial operations are generated not through tenders or as a result of external marketing and sales efforts, but from utilizing internal contacts, inputs and market knowledge among the 21,000 staff at our DSV offices around the world, says Ole Christiansen, DSV General manager Air Chartering - Cargo & Passenger, part of DSV Air & Sea A/S, based at Horsens, Denmark.
-The business idea is to capitalize on existing market inputs that would otherwise have been left idle as they are are outside the scope of business at the individual offices.
-The bulk of these operations are managed by our representatives in Italy, Germany, Denmark and Sweden, and all operations are then coordinated by our head office at Horsens, Denmark.
-Looking ahead, we have had a dynamic start to 2012, with several cargo charter operations with large freighter including Boeing 747-400F and AN-124. Our prime target in 2012 will be the Middle East and the USA where we see huge potentials for cargo charter operations, says Mr Christiansen.
