Mar 09, 2012 (newstodate): Riga Airport is now reassessing its position after Latvia's Competition Council in February 2012 ruled that Riga Airport had unjustly favored Ryanair in applying substantially lower rates for airport services than charged on airBaltic.
-We have received the Competition Council's decision, and our lawyers are now working on this to finalize our opinion on what to do - maintain or appeal. We still have one week to decide, says Sarmite Bunka-Brilijonka,
Riga International Airport Head of PR Division.
-We have already ensured a transparent and uniform set of charges, and airBaltic does not use RIX ground handling services anymore. We are still working to create clear politics of prices, but our chairman of the board strongly supports transparency.
newstodate has further asked how the airport will now compensate airBaltic for the unfair charges collected over the years.
-While we do not agree with Competition Council decision, this question is not actual for us now, says Ms Bunka-Brilijonka.
