Mar 13, 2012 (newstodate): Cargo volumes through Latvia's Baltic Cargo Center, now a part of North Hub Services/TAV Europe, remained almost unchanged in 2011, compared to the preceding year.
A total of 10,484 tonnes of cargo and mail was handled at the center, against 10,418 tonnes in 2010.
Of the total volume, cargo imports were 3,403 tonnes, and cargo exports were 2,816 tonnes in 2011.
During January-February 2012, the center handled a total of 1,627 tonnes of cargo and mail, an increase by 12.2 percent, y-o-y, primarily driven by an increase in mail volumes by 42 percent, y-o-y.
In 2011, the center saw UTAir and Transaero as new customers.
Cargo volumes to and from Riga Airport were basically unchanged, while transfer cargo declined. Mail volumes increased, thanks to a growing volume of transit mail shipments.
