Mar 14, 2012 (newstodate): Air cargo volumes are moving slowly upwards at Latvia's Riga Airport in 2012.
While total cargo volumes in January 2012 were unchanged against last year, February did see some growth at nine percent, y-o-y, to 991 tonnes.
The growth was not, however, in air cargo with 504 tonnes, down 3.3 percent, but in air mail volumes that increased by 26.4 percent, y-o-y.
In February 2012, the Latvian carrier airBaltic accounted for 60 percent of the volumes, 598 tonnes, while EAT lifted 105 tonnes, corresponding to 11 percent of the market.
Other carriers had only one-digit shares of the market.
In January-February 2012, Riga Airport handled a total of 1,907 tonnes of cargo and mail, an increase by 4.8 percent, y-o-y.
