Mar 09, 2012 (newstodate): The Latvian carrier airBaltic's CEO, Martin Gauss, is member of the delegation to accompany the country's prime minister on a visit to the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait from March 10 to 18, 2012.
The now 99 percent state-owned Latvian carrier will need a strong cooperation partner to consolidate its new strategy with Riga Airport as an efficient transfer hub, and in the longer term the state will probably dilute its ownership by divesting of anything up to 49 percent of stake which is a prerequisite for maintaining its status as an EU carrier.
Rumors, never confirmed, were earlier circulating that Qatar Airways might be a feasible partner and even investor in the airline.
